BMO Global Asset Management has poached Phil Webster from Aberdeen as director of European equities.
Mr Webster will report to head of European equities David Moss and will look after BMO’s funds focused on continental Europe, though the fund house has yet to confirm his specific mandates.
At Aberdeen Asset Management, which he left in March this year after almost 12 years at the company, Mr Webster ran the Smaller Companies High Income investment trust - now known as the Smaller Companies Income Trust.
The trust delivered a 75 per cent return in the five years to 4 March, making it the third best performer in the AIC’s UK Equity & Bond Income sector, according to FE Analytics.
