Architas hires Barclays veteran to replace Rock

Architas has appointed Jaime Arguello to replace outgoing chief investment officer (CIO) Caspar Rock.

Mr Arguello is currently managing director and CIO for Barclays’ £17.5bn multi-manager and alternatives business.

At Architas, he will take over responsibility for a 25-strong team which manages £20bn in assets.

Architas chief executive Hans Georgeson said: “He has been responsible for managing significant assets on an open architecture basis, for managing large investment teams, and brings to the role both technical knowledge and global investment experience.”

Mr Georgeson added Mr Arguello’s appointment comes as the firm gears up to launch a range of managed portfolios.

A start date for Mr Arguello, who also previously spent a decade at Pictet Asset Management, has yet to be finalised.

His predecessor Mr Rock announced he was leaving Axa’s multi-manager business in April, after more than a decade at the group, to join wealth management firm Cazenove Capital.
