Woodford hires trust veterans for Patient Capital

Two financial services stalwarts have joined the board of Neil Woodford’s Patient Capital Trust as non-executive directors.

The appointment of Carolan Dobson and Alan Hodson brings additional financial services experience to the board of £744m vehicle, which currently hosts a number of individuals with connections to the trust’s holdings.

Ms Dobson’s career has taken in the likes of Abbey National Asset Management, while Mr Hodson has worked in a number of roles related to global equity markets at UBS.

Mr Hodson is currently the senior independent director of JPMorgan Elect, while Ms Dobson sits on the board of the BlackRock Latin American Investment Trust among other roles.

The Patient Capital Trust board is chaired by Susan Searle, a former chief executive of Imperial Innovations, one of the trust’s holdings.

Steven Harris, the chief executive of Circassia Pharmaceuticals, another holding, is also on the board.

Ms Searle welcomed the new appointments, adding: “They both have extensive and high level experience within the financial sector, and specifically within the investment trust sector, and will complement the existing non-executive directors of the company who hold a strong background in the development and growth of healthcare and technology businesses.”
