RLAM poaches Newton manager in quadruple hire

Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has expanded its global high yield team with a number of hires including Newton’s Khuram Sharih.

Mr Sharih joins the firm as a fund manager as RLAM prepares to launch a new fund focusing on “alternative parts of the credit market”. This will include high yield, asset-backed securities, loans and emerging market debt.

He previously worked with the fixed income and global multi-asset teams at Newton, where he was alternate manager on the institutional Multi-Asset Diversified Return fund. Prior to that he held roles at Cairn Capital and JPMorgan.

Alongside the hire of Mr Sharih, RLAM has also recruited Sebastien Poulin as a senior credit analyst. Mr Poulin joins from Principal Global Investors and also previously worked at Newton.

Two further analyst appointments - Gary Ewen of Mercer and Tom Elliott of Debtwire - complete the team.

The four will work on the newly-launched Multi Asset Credit fund.

RLAM head of global high yield Azhar Hussain said: “We think [a diversified approach] is particularly valuable in an environment where government and corporate bond yields are at an all-time low.”
