Client education key to allaying crash fears

Educating clients before a stock market crash happens is the best way to alleviate their fears, according to a Bellpenny financial adviser.

Ahead of Financial Adviser’s Masterclass with Russell Investments, Neil Winstanley, a financial planner based in Glasgow, said: “If you’ve done the work up-front, that makes clients feel comfortable. If I’ve got nervous clients, I do more in-depth work with them. Some people think by investing their money they’re going to risk it all whereas, for many, it’s invested in different products.”

Mr Winstanley will be at the FA Masterclass, Calming Clients Post-Brexit, on 20 September. The event, sponsored by Russell Investments, will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Edinburgh City Centre, and Mr Winstanley will be joined by Nick French, managing director of UK wealth management, and Nick Boni, associate regional director, both from Russell Investments. Brian Steeples, managing director of The Turris Partnership, will also speak.
