The retirement and savings group aims to create close to 30 new positions by the start of next year.

MetLife has already doubled its headcount to around 40 sales consultants to support the personal pension which offers capital and income guarantees, after its launch in June.

The group said it would focus on recruiting experienced sales consultants while also investing in training and development for graduates. It said it was also interested in bringing in new blood to the industry and will be supporting this initiative with a development programme.

Head of distribution Mike Phillips said: "We are delighted to be able to boost employment and take on more staff at a time when many firms are shedding employees."
