Gov't framework sets out to encourage new business models and partnerships

A new government framework aims to promote how further education can forge new partnerships to make a stronger contribution to the economic and social health of local communities.

The further education colleges' models for success initiative provides a range of mechanisms available to colleges to enable them to respond to the needs of learners, employers and the wider community.

Bill Rammell, minister of state for lifelong learning, further and higher education, said: "If we are to deliver these ambitions we need an further education service which is innovative and flexible, one which is characterised by new ways of working, new partnerships and new business models."
