Mediation is 'unused'

Two-thirds of employers have never used mediation to settle workplace disputes, research from law firm Dundas & Wilson has found.

While the government has boosted dispute resolution service Acas with £37m of extra funding, D&W found that only 36 per cent of the 136 firms it surveyed had used mediation to resolve employment disputes.

Those that had used mediation, 60 per cent of respondents said the flexibility of the process was the key advantage.
