A new fund which aims to invest in global agricultural commodities has been launched by Eclectica Asset Management.

The specialist asset manager is offering its CF Eclectica Agricultural Futures fund, which will be co-managed by Hugh Hendry and Espen Baardsen.

The new fund adds to its existing Eclectica Agriculture fund, a long-only global equity fund, which was launched in June 2007.

Hugh Hendry, chief investment officer of Eclectica, believes the new fund will satisfy investor demand for a pure commodities investment vehicle.

He added: "We believe that the markets are embracing a historic revaluation of hard asset against their financial counterparts. We have been using the opportunities presented by recent weak markets to add to positions in commodities and commodity-related equities across our fund range.

"With this new fund we are aiming to capture this generational bull market in agricultural commodities."
