New FSA comparison tables might be missing the point

Advertising

Another FSA move, to launch PPI comparison tables, is to be welcomed, but may not be enough.

It has had comparison tables for other products since 2001, but this is the first time for PPI. While much could be said for the FSA's desire to protect consumers, and it feels it is doing its bit for them by posting details, there seems to be a certain air of missing the point. The point is that many consumers are targeted at the point of sale of electrical items and the like for something that until that point they did not think they needed. To introduce comparison tables will only suit those that set out to buy PPI, on the way to the electrical shop to pick up a flat screen TV.
