The impact of the economic turbulence will be in the spotlight at this year's Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development annual conference.

The event - which takes place on September 16-18 at Harrogate International Centre - will offer business solutions and practical guidance on how to survive the turbulent times as a result of the economic downturn.

John Philpott, chief economist of the CIPD, said: "With the fall-out for organisations and jobs at the forefront of everyone's attention, managers will be offered the latest expert assessment of what lies ahead and learn how best to manage people in tougher times."
