Leeds Building Society

Type: Isa

Description: Leeds Building Society is set to launch another version of its Inflation Buster Isa. The new account is guaranteed to beat inflation by 2.50 per cent and the return is linked to the Retail Price Index, which is the official measure of how much goods and services bought by an average UK household changes.

Conditions: A maximum investment of £39,600 made on 1 June, 2008 will have a tax-free maturity value of £45,460.89 after two years, assuming that the rate of inflation is 4.20 per cent over the term. This is made up of £330.90 for early investment and £5529.99 from the RPI inflation rate.

Contact: Log on to www.leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk, or call the savings hotline, on 08450 540 995.

Verdict: With an increased bonus rate of 2.50 per cent, this is a definite selling point and a marker to show that although inflation is likely to keep rising, this possibly improves the rate further. Investors will also have the benefit that their money is not being affected by inflation. But what must be considered, is that this Isa is very dependent on the future economic market.
