RBS Intermediary Partners

Type: Two-year fixed mortgage

Description: RBS Intermediary Partners will be adding a two-year fixed-rate deal to its First Active re-mortgage range.

Conditions: The new product does not have an arrangement fee and offers an initial rate of 6.79 per cent and 7.4 per cent APR until 30 September 2010. The maximum loan-to-value is 75 per cent.

Contact: www.rbs.co.uk

Verdict: When considering that arrangement fees had reached £2499,recently a product that does not charge any arrangement fee has got to be looked at with some degree of positive attitude. The lower the loan sought, the more important it is to seek a product with no arrangement fee, as for the higher loan the arrangement fee becomes less significant. The interest rate charged, of 6.79 per cent, is at the high end of the current range and from that point of view is not attractive. Nationwide has a two year fixed rate money at 6.48 per cent. The LTV is also pitched at a common level in the industry at the moment. There are better products currently on the market which are being introduced all of the time.
