ifs wants finance lessons dropped from schools

The ifs has called on the government to drop the teaching of personal finance from the national curriculum.

The call follows a decision by the government to introduce a new maths subject from 2010, which will be based mainly on the teaching of personal finance.

The ifs wants the controversial subject to be replaced with a stand-alone personal finance subject.

Many leading voices in personal finance are concerned that teachers may not be the best people to teach the subject.
