Richard Ford has taken over the role from Laurie Beevers, who is moving to become executive deputy at the firm. Subject to FSA approval, the pair will take up their new posts no later than November.

Mr Ford joins from Spencer House Capital Management, where he had been chief operating officer since 2006.

The group recently announced intentions to extend its fund management capability with the launch of its own UK income fund with more products expected to follow.
