Mr Rostron will oversee the delivery and coordination of investment offerings such as investment funds, structured products and life assurance. He will answer to Kevin Lecocq, chief investment officer and a former head of European institutional sales at HSBC.

Mr Rostron was previously a managing director and global head of marketing and business development at Fortis Investments. At Fortis Investments, he distributed products to retail, institutional and wholesale investors.

Speaking about the recent appointment Mr Lecocq said: "We are delighted to welcome Thomas to the team. He has extensive experience in delivery of investment products to the retail community.

"As Barclays Wealth is responsible for providing all investment products to GRCB, Thomas’s appointment is key to enabling both our organisations to offer a market-leading proposition to meet the individual needs of our key clients."

Other appointments the group has recently made include the poaching of James Osborne and Cherie Hamoudi from asset managers Turcan Connell as it continues to grow its investment management division in Edinburgh.
