Sheffield maturity and bonus rates beat IMA returns

Sheffield Mutual's maturity and bonus rates beat the average IMA UK All Companies, IMA Balanced Managed and UK equity tracker returns for 2007, according to the firm's estimates based on regular savings of £50pcm.

Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society savers received 15.6 per cent for the year, compared with 12.7 per cent for UK All Companies investors, 11.3 per cent for Balanced Managed investors and 9.2 per cent for holders of UK equity trackers.

Andrew Townsley, chief executive of Sheffield Mutual, said: "These returns demonstrate the strength of with-profits funds in a low-risk environment."
