Bryan J Hollingsworth, Exeter
www.hollingsworth.uk.com
Plus points... The welcome page to this website has a personal, neat and simplistic approach that makes it easy on the eye. The light blue writing, which is in lower case, lends the website an air of simplicity that is comforting and makes complicated information easy to read. The home page has a concise introduction to the areas the adviser covers, including mortgages. At the top of the page there is a clear statement that Hollingsworth offers independent and impartial advice. Down the left hand side is a series of links to the different areas advice is given on. There is a section called 'services' that details what the IFA would aim to achieve for the client and how the advice process works. There is also a designated section for the contact details, which are very neatly and clearly laid out. It also mentions how consultations are by appointment only. There is a separate qualifications link, which comprehensively maps out and explains Hollingsworth's qualifications in more detail. This page shows Mr Hollingsworth has a wealth of experience and also that he has the CeMAP qualification. In the mortgages section a paragraph explains the risks associated with getting a mortgage. Also included on this page is an explanation of how payment will be either be by fee or commission. In addition, there is a section all of its own for equity release.
Could do better... There is little to do to improve this website. Everything about it is extremely user friendly and simple. It would not harm it however to have a few client testimonials. Also the website is very hard to find using Google or Ask but it can be found second on the list on Yahoo.

Minerva Financial & Mortgage Advisers, Southgate, London
www.minerva-fma.com
Plus points... This website is extremely professionally presented and contains a vast amount of information. This does, however, initially feel quite daunting and overwhelming but in fact it is generally very easy to navigate. The front page itself conveys a lot of information. There is an introduction to the company and an overview of the services it offers, which includes mortgages as a speciality. There are some industry news bulletins down the side, as well as references to what the current base rate is, and what the current house and retail prices are. It is quite a lengthy front page. At the bottom the company mentions how they are part of Sesame and are regulated by the FSA. The introduction also manages to explain the payment options for mortgage advice, as well as mentioning the risks surrounding mortgages. On top of this, mortgages get their own section and users can get to it through a link on the left of hte page. The website has financial calculators and various financial guides and factsheets that provide information on a whole host of subjects and a huge amount of information specifically on mortgages. The website offers more than sufficient contact details, includes a map and is easy to find using Google, Yahoo and Ask. In addition to all of this, there are plenty of client testimonials throughout the website to which a prospective client can refer.
Could do better... Unfortunately, despite all the bonuses of this website, it does not list the specific qualifications of the advisers. It could also be construed as being a bit too intimidating and heavy going.
