A commercial insurance network has been launched for independent financial advisers (IFAs) and mortgage advisers.

The APC Alliance has been designed for advisers to generate additional income by placing insurance for their commercial clients.

It enables advisers to pass on their clients' requirements and to receive a quote back within an hour.

All areas of commercial insurance can be covered and it is anticipated that the greatest interest will be in the buy-to-let (BTL) market.

To access the network, advisers must register at www.apcinsure.co.uk/apc-alliance.php.

A 15 per cent commission of the gross premium on each case will be received by the adviser if the policy is taken out.

Ian Russell, underwriting director for APC said: "With the current challenges within the mortgage and IFA market there is a clear need to generate alternative income streams from existing clients.

"Having spoken to numerous brokers and IFAs we felt that the placement of commercial insurance would be of enormous benefit to introducers."
