The Crosby Show of suggestions

While still at school I used to earn a crust by working in a supermarket. I was once told by a full-time fellow stock replenisher (or shelf stacker for those who have not laboured in that industry) that I shouldn’t work quickly as it made him look bad.

If I could fill the shelves with cakes in half the time he could then he would be expected to work as quickly as me. Sometimes I wonder if that former colleague has since left the chilled section behind him to go on to run the country.

What we need right now is action but what did we get from Sir James? The 49-page tome published by the Treasury consisted of proposals and observations.
