Times may be tough in the mortgage market but the industry showed it was still capable of supporting a good cause at the Birmingham Midshires Egyptian Summer Ball.

The event, held at Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses, managed to raise £14,000 with an auction hosted by former world snooker champion Dennis Taylor and the evening raised more than £64,000 in total for charities Compton Hospice and Clic Sargent.
