Cheshire Building Society has cut the rates on the majority of its fixed rate mortgages by 0.5 per cent.

The society has reduced the rates on its two, three and five-year fixed rate mortgages and two-year fixed rate remortgage and buy-to-let mortgage products. In addition its 10-year fixed rate mortgage has also been reduced by 0.3 per cent. Customers can now get a two or three-year fixed rate for 6.49 per cent up to 85 per cent loan-to-value with a £999 arrangement fee.

The 10-year fixed rate product is available at 6.09 per cent, available up to 85 per cent LTV and with a £999 fee.

Adviser says...

Michael Brill, director of Essex-based IFA Baronworth Investment Services, said while the rates for the two and three-year fixed rate were reasonably competitive it was the 10-year fixed rate that stood out.

"The 10-year fix is competitive and has an excellent rate provided you are prepared to lock yourself in for 10 years."
