He will set off with a group of executives from the financial services industry, known as the Moneyspinners, to ride up Champs-Elysees and past Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The plan was to arrive in Paulliac, near Bordeaux, eight days later.
The ride is a follow-on from a coast-to-coast cycle trip across England, Wales and Ireland last year, when Mr Deane raised £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year's ride will raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK.
