Q: How long does it take to consider a claim?

The length of time a claim takes to process will depend upon a number of factors, like the type and complexity of a claim, and the level of information needed from other sources.

Some of these factors may be entirely outside of the FSCS’s control, but there are general guidelines for each claim type.

The FSCS aims to resolve the majority of deposit claims within seven days of the firm defaulting in an automated process. For other types of claims they aim to resolve 90 per cent of claims within six months of receiving a claim.
