Smartphone update for Avelo client portal

Paul Yates, strategy and business development director for Avelo, said the upgraded version offers advisers on-the-go mobile access.

It also automatically provides up-to-date information to clients so they can monitor applications in progress.

Mr Yates said: “With the retail distribution review looming large, many adviser firms are looking to invest in a direct to consumer presence to best deliver value to their clients post 2012.

“We launched client portal last year to meet this need for more dynamic communication between adviser and client, making servicing clients of all sizes a reality.

“Now, in response to our own research and customer feedback we have updated our existing offering to bring you client portal 2.0. We believe it offers a level of transparency and access never previously thought possible.”

John Bloomfield, IFA for County Durham-based Paul Wilson Financial Services, said: “This simply seems to reflect a growing trend within the industry to provide new ways for consumers to access data about their accounts.

“I am not convinced that consumers are as keen to have as many forms of direct access to information as IFAs and service providers think they do. In my experience clients would rather receive the information contextualised and simplified through their adviser rather than raw through their smartphone.”
