With the end of the 2011 to 2012 tax year fast approaching, Canada Life has collated details of the main allowances, exemptions and reliefs available to individuals and trustees as a quick reference guide for advisers.

Cathy Russell, tax and estate planning consultant of Canada Life, said: “The Canada Life technical team takes a lot of calls from advisers at this time of year as they look to check details of various allowances and utilise the annual exemptions for their clients.

“While we will always try to provide as much information as possible, we wanted to produce something that could answer the most common basic queries.

“It can be frustrating when you can’t find all the information you need in one place, so this checklist provides a quick reference guide for advisers when time is of the essence.”
