Leeds Building Society has appointed Philip Jenks and David Fisher as non-executive directors with immediate effect.

Mr Jenks and Mr Fisher have joined the board, which currently consists of three executive directors and six non-executive directors, under the leadership of chairman, Robin Smith.

Mr Jenks is currently a specialist advisor to the Housing Finance Select Committee. Mr Fisher is currently a non-executive director of the Law Society and former chief executive of Sainsbury’s Bank.

Mr Smith said: “I am very pleased that Philip is joining the society. He has significant experience of the mortgage market and will play a key role in developing our products and service even further, so that we are able to support many more customers onto the housing ladder.

“David is an excellent appointment for the society. He brings a proven track record of success in different business sectors and his skill and expertise will help us to continue to build on our financial strength, and develop our people and products even further so that many more customers can achieve home ownership.”
