Ian Muirhead, former managing director of Sifa, has been promoted to chairman of the organisation as previous legal affairs director Stuart Bushell takes over as managing director.
Since Sifa was acquired by adviser support provider SimplyBiz Group on 15 August 2011, SimplyBiz group managing director Matt Timmins has been acting as part-time chairman. He has now said that the business requires the dedication and focus of a full-time roll.
Mr Muirhead founded Sifa to help develop a better dialogue between solicitors and financial advisers.
One issue Mr Muirhead has vocally commented on is the consideration by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to broaden its scope for referrals, thereby potentially allowing solicitors to refer clients to non-independent advisers.
