Mam Funds outlines plans for US Opportunities fund

Mam Funds has outlined plans to launch its first US equities fund for manager Nick Ford.

The group has in its latest prospectus published details of the CF Miton US Opportunities fund, which Mr Ford (pictured) will manage.

The group’s head of marketing Mark Harper said the fund was likely to be launched by the end of Q1 or the start of Q2.

Mam Funds hired Mr Ford in September from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip), as revealed by Investment Adviser, and the manager formally started at the group just before Christmas.

Twenty-year industry veteran Mr Ford joined Swip from F&C, where he was a US small-cap specialist, in September 2007.

He previously managed the £22.8m Swip North American fund, £4m Scottish Widows American Select Growth fund and £83.4m Scottish Widows American Growth fund.

At the time Mam announced it had hired Mr Ford, a Swip spokeswoman said the manager was moving in order to relocate back in England closer to his family. The group said it would replace him with James Kinghorn, investment director within the global equities team.
