Investec AM hires Argonaut’s John Lester for sales team

Investec Asset Management has hired former Neptune strategic partnerships chief John Lester as a sales manager within its UK client group.

Investec has hired Mr Lester after he left Argonaut Capital Partners at the end of last year after just six months at the boutique, having joined it from Neptune in July 2012 along with two other team members.

In his new role at Investec, Mr Lester will report to Fergus McCarthy, sales director for strategic partnerships, and will be part of the team responsible for the group’s key strategic relationships in the UK.

Mr Lester joined Argonaut as head of distribution in July alongside two colleagues from Neptune, Investment Management, Dennis Pellerito and Andy Nickson. The trio left Neptune in April 2012.

Prior to his six years at Neptune where he was head of strategic partnerships, Mr Lester held a number of senior positions , including sales and distribution roles at HSBC Asset Management.

Charlie Wilson, head of UK retail at Investec, said Mr Lester’s appointment showed the company’s “commitment to building high quality, long-term business partnerships”.

“We look forward to having John join our team at a time when our comprehensive range of managed solutions and specialist funds continue to gain traction,” he said.
