Alliance Trust Savings hires Skandia and Ascentric staff

Platform Alliance Trust Savings (ATS) has significantly boosted its intermediary sales team to eight from just one in January last year in a major push into the intermediary market.

The company said its new-look team would include four business development managers and four telephone platform account managers.

ATS said it had made three key business development appointments alongside its existing manager Richard Farquhar, including Paul Judd and Steve Brooks from Skandia and Scott Winters from Ascentric.

Meanwhile, David Duncan has joined ATS as a telephone-based platform account manager from the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was a financial planning manager.

The platform has also hired Julie Maguire as head of marketing communications from Standard Life where she was head of customer and specialist marketing communications.

Garry Mcluckie, sales and marketing director at ATS, said the platform market had seen “major cutbacks” to the size of sales teams but his business was “bucking the trend”.

“We have brought in three highly experienced business development managers who will help take the proposition to a wider audience,” he said.

“Our flat fee structure remains unique in the market and gives intermediaries and their clients a clear expectation of platform costs regardless of the size of their portfolio.

“As well as this, our whole of market access to investment trusts and other investment choices that are lacking on other platforms such as exchange traded commodities and exchange traded funds mean that we are confident that advisers will see the real benefit of using the ATS platform as a complimentary choice to their existing platform provider.”
