Schroders’ Tokyo fund to add hedged share class

Schroders is to add a hedged share class on its £820m Tokyo fund run by star manager Andrew Rose.

The company said the fund would have a hedged share class added to it this quarter as expectations grow that the Japanese yen will weaken as the country’s new government is set to embark on further quantitative easing and attempts to talk the currency down.

The yen has weakened sharply against the dollar since mid-November when it was ¥79 to the dollar to more than ¥91 yen to the dollar as at January 29.
