Aegon deny restructure rumours

A spokesman for the Edinburgh-based insurer said today (Tuesday): “We do not comment on market speculation and rumour.”

The provider launched a strategic review in 2011 in an effort to see costs cut by 25 per cent within the UK business, and shed several hundred jobs across the business.

Aegon has been dogged by rumours over the past two years that it is set to dispose of its distribution businesses Positive Solutions and Origen, despite repeated pledges of commitment by chief executive Adrian Grace.
