Ashcourt Rowan has continued its recent hiring spree by poaching Steven Midgley from National Australia Group to take on the new role of business director for the financial planning division.

The firm said Mr Midgley would be “responsible for providing business and operational support for the management of the financial planning business and its national development, and ensuring a high standard of client service and operational efficiency”.

Mr Midgley will join on June 24 from National Australia Group, where he had been responsible for leading the independent financial advice business and the wealth management business across the UK, prior to which he had been head of financial planning of Yorkshire & Clydesdale bank.

Jonathan Polin, chief executive of Ashcourt Rowan, said: “Steven has a huge amount of experience and expertise in the financial planning industry, which will be invaluable as we look to develop this part of the business.”

The hire is the latest in a string of senior appointments by Ashcourt Rowan this year, with David Palmer brought in as business director for the asset management business, Gaius Jones appointed chief executive of financial planning and investment manager Harry Burnham hired from Brewin Dolphin.
