Matthew Strachan leaves Alliance Trust after US fund closes

Matthew Strachan has left Alliance Trust after 27 years working for the group, following the closure of the £77m North American Equity fund in May.

Mr Strachan’s fund was closed alongside the £59m European equity fund as part of a review earlier this year, with the company commenting that “North American and European equities are not areas that we see as core within our offering”.

Alliance Trust confirmed that Mr Strachan, who was head of North American equities, has now left the company.

Alliance Trust added that the equity portfolio of the trust is now managed by the global equity team headed by Ilario Di Bon.
