CII warns all staff need qualifications as new exam launched

The Chartered Insurance Institute has launched a new QCF level three certificate in investment operations.

The two unit introductory qualification provides the knowledge and skills needed by a wide range of operational staff working with investments.

The CII stated it satisfies Financial Conduct Authority ‘appropriate qualification’ requirements for overseers of several investment operations functions.

The certificate in investment operations includes an introduction to the financial services market and gives a practical insight into one of three areas of investment operations, depending on the second unit selected, which include collective investment scheme administration, individual savings account administration and investment client servicing.

Steve Jenkins, director of financial services and insurance markets for the CII, said: “The days when only front-line financial services sales staff needed qualifications are now a distant memory.

“Today the FCA expects staff of all levels and across all functions to demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to perform effectively.

“Equally, financial services firms and individuals are demanding more relevant, flexible and cost effective study solutions. We believe the Certificate in Investment Operations meets these needs, whilst also offering an engaging and stimulating study route for candidates.”

Study material for the Certificate in Investment Operations can now be ordered from the CII, with exams being sat from September 2013.

Those studying with the CII also benefit from access to RevisionMate – a free, easy-to-use online study tool providing practical study and revision support.
