‘Life cover 50% cheaper at 40 than at 50’

The data from Legal & General found that clients who take out life insurance over a 15 year period in their forties would pay around £25 a month, but this would jump to £60 if they waited until they are 50.

Duncan Finch, managing director of retail protection at L&G, said similar savings also applied to couples who take out a policy before they turn 50.

Mr Finch added: “Saving 50 per cent by insuring before 50 makes sense for hard-pressed British families.”
