Regional Box: Dorset

The Office for National Statistics has revealed that a typical male born in East Dorset between 2009 and 2011 could expect to live until 83, nine years and two months longer than his Blackpool counterpart.

The northern seaside town recorded the lowest average male life expectancy figure in the country of 73 years and eight months.

Dorset also came top for female life expectancy in the UK, with women set to live on average for 86 years and 4 months if they were born there between 2009 to 2011.
