CII promotes equal opportunities for financial services

The vice president of the Chartered Insurance Institute was commenting on new objectives drawn up by the CII to promote equal opportunities, both within its ranks and across its membership.

The goals listed in the Equality Strategy included ensuring the CII did not discriminate against any “protected characteristics” under the 2010 Equality Act, including gender, sexuality and race.

Another aim of the initiative was to heighten awareness around equality among its members and throughout the industry to make it a more “inclusive” profession.

Ms Coyle, who is also chair of the CII Diversity Action Group, said: “The Equality Strategy is one of the marks of a professional… organisation, prepared to take a good look at its operations.”
