Well, by the time you read this the PruProtect Chance to Ride with Michael Vaughan will be over and my bike will be back in the garage (possibly for some time, depending how I get on!).

As I type this I am just two days away from joining Michael on the third leg of the charity bike ride from Birmingham to Cardiff via the daunting Brecon Beacons.

Thankfully we have a major product launch (that will be out to market by the time you read this) which is keeping my mind occupied and stopping me from panicking about spending two long days in the saddle.

We will become the first provider to offer dynamic pricing for our customers.

Vitality Optimiser is a revolutionary new breed of protection policy. It gives an upfront protection premium discount and then allows the policyholder to control those premiums over the term of the plan through looking after their health and engaging with our unique health and wellness programme, Vitality.

In addition, customers with Vitality Optimiser will have access to our full range of Vitality benefits; including everything from discounted health screenings and fitness devices, to free cinema tickets, and even half price gym membership and sports shoes.

Finally, we will be giving our policyholders cashback every year, depending on their level of engagement with Vitality.

By taking some simple steps to look after their health, policyholders have the opportunity to earn £50, £75 or £100 cashback each year. And if a couple hold a joint PruProtect Plan, they could receive double this amount.

Our customer and adviser research has shown us that rewarding clients and giving them something back from their protection, even if they never make a claim, combined with the most comprehensive cover available, is yet again setting PruProtect apart from the competition.

We believe that this innovation and acknowledgement of customers’ expectations will encourage more people to consider taking out vital cover for themselves and their families, and will give advisers even more reasons to talk about protection in general.
