Martin Currie hires Millar for Asian equities team

Martin Currie has hired Michael Millar as an investment manager on its Asian equities team.

Mr Millar will be based in Edinburgh and report to Andrew Graham, investment director, head of Asia.

The group has the £88m Asia Pacific fund and £7m China fund in terms of Asia-facing products in its UK-based range. It also has several Luxembourg-based Asian funds.

Mr Millar was managing director, regional head of research, at Naeem Brokerage, Cairo and had previously spent seven years at Société Générale where he held the roles of director, head of Asia telecoms research, and senior telecoms analyst and deputy head of research, based in Singapore and Bangkok respectively.

Andy Sowerby, executive director sales, marketing and client services at Martin Currie, said the addition to the team came shortly after Damian Taylor was hired as an investment manager to the team earlier this year.
