Intermediaries bullish over mortgages in 2014: Duncombe

The director of the Legal & General Mortgage Club said firms were well prepared to take advantage, with new build, buy-to-let, first-time buyers and protection being areas in which he said he expected to see greater volumes of business.

A snap poll of 60 mortgage professionals, attending a recent L&G Mortgage Club forum, mirrored Mr Duncombe’s comments.

Some 82 per cent expect more buy-to-let business, 52 per cent suggested the Help to Buy mortgage guarantee scheme was a good idea and 60 per cent expect gross lending figures to top £170bn.
