CeMap registrations rise 600 per cent

According to Anne Kiem, chief executive of the IFS, it has seen a “large increase” in registrations for the certificate in mortgage advice and practice ahead of the MMR’s April 2014 deadline.

Under the terms of MMR, most non-advised mortgage sales will be banned, while all in-branch sales will have to be advised, meaning that advisory staff must reach CeMAP level.

Ms Kiem said: “While some commentators have expressed concern that MMR may lead to processing delays in mortgage applications, these figures show that the industry and its practitioners are responding well to the forthcoming changes.”
