Awards dinner guests hear of Posthumous honour

Mr Warwick, who died aged 68 in April after a short illness, was honoured with the special John Ellis award for his contribution to the professional development of financial services.

Mr Warwick, who was made a CBE in 1996, was a founder of the Association of IFAs, and a past president of the Life Insurance Association.

He also sat as a director of FSA predecessor the Securities and Investment board and set up his own advisory firm, Cheltenham-based Warwick Butchart Associates, in 1981.

Other winners at the awards dinner included Dundee-based Verus Financial Planning, which won the PFS award for chartered financial planning firm of the year.

Robin Melly of Shropshire-based Matrix Capital won the chartered financial planner of the year award.
