Cofunds, recently acquired by Legal & General, and which has spent four of the past five years in the four-star category, is the biggest faller.
The other four companies to have dropped down a rank all come from the two-star section – Aberdeen, Friends Life, Barclays Wealth and Baillie Gifford, with the first two returning to the one-star category after just one year.

HSBC is the only familiar company in the one-star ranking, having also finished there last year.
The others are two new entrants, Santander and National Savings & Investments.
