Santander hires ex-Schroders manager David Scammell

Santander Asset Management has hired former Schroders manager David Scammell as a senior sovereign bond fund manager on its European fixed income team.

Mr Scammell will manage the Santander Asset Management Government Bond fund, reporting to head of credit Azim Meghji.

Santander said he would also be working across the firm’s product range, specialising in euro and sterling interest rate and country investments.

Mr Scammell had spent eight years at Schroders, where he worked with Santander’s head of European fixed income Adam Cordery, becoming head of UK and European interest rate strategies before leaving in January 2013.
