Openwork chair Kate Avery to step down

Kate Avery, chairman of multi-tie network Openwork, is to leave after four years with the company.

Ms Avery joined Openwork in April 2009 as non-executive director, before being appointed chairman in the July of that year.

She was also chairman of the Openwork investment committee.

Mary-Anne McIntyre, chief executive of Openwork, said: “Kate became our chair at a pivotal time for Openwork and has been a vital contributor to our transition through the Retail Distribution Review and our move into profitability.

“Kate’s experience and wise counsel have been huge assets to us over many years and, on behalf of Openwork and her many friends in the business, I would like to thank her for her efforts and wish her every success in the future.”

Prior to joining Openwork, Ms Avery worked at Legal & General for 13 years with 10 years on the main board, including managing all of the distribution channels.

She also spent 18 years at Barclays, which included a spell as managing director of Barclays Stockbrokers, Barclays Trust Company and deputy managing director of Barclays General Insurance.
