Inheritance tax system to be overhauled in 2016

Papers released as part of the Autumn statement reveal HMRC will do away with the need to complete paper versions of inheritance tax forms.

HMRC will now enable people to proceed with their application for probate and submit inheritance tax accounts online.

According to HMRC, this will improve the customer experience as well as assist the tax office’s ability to perform compliance activities.

It is anticipated that the new online service will become available in 2016.
