FSCS declares 23 regulated firms in default

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has declared 23 regulated firms in default.

The latest batch of firms declared in default include City Equities, which FTAdviser in October revealed had entered administration. The FSCS has already begun paying out to customers in respect of these firms.

In October the FSCS declared 22 regulated firms in default, and another 15 in June 2013.

Mark Oates, head of communications for FSCS, said: “We are appealing to anyone that believes that they may be owed money as a result of their dealings with any of these firms. Please get in touch with FSCS, as we may be able to help you.”

The firms include:

• Results Financial Limited (Newcastle Upon Tyne);

• RTP Independent Mortgages and Financial Services Limited (Newcastle Upon Tyne);

• Blake Independent Financial Services Limited (Barnsley);

• Fleet Direct Limited (Doncaster);

• Angela Murfitt Financial Strategy Limited (Stoke-On-Trent);

• Hobson Financial Planning Limited, formerly RF Hobson & Co Insurance Brokers Limited (Lichfield);

• Home Remortgages Limited (Market Drayton);

• Bervale Mead Insurance Brokers Limited (Leighton Buzzard);

• Andrew Copeland Mortgages Limited (London);
