Square Mile appoints ex-Threadneedle Davies as chairman

Richard Romer-Lee’s Square Mile Investment Consultancy & Research has appointed ex-Threadneedle chief executive Simon Davies as its chairman.

Mr Davies joins Mr Romer-Lee, Nigel Whittingham and Mark James at the newly-founded research firm.

He joined Threadneedle in 1995 as chief investment officer, becoming chief executive in 1999 and holding the role of chairman from 2007 until his retirement from the role in 2012. He has also worked as chairman of Cofunds and was chairman of the Investment Management Association between 2005 and 2007. Mr Davies has also worked at Gartmore and NM Rothschild & Sons.

Mr Romer-Lee, managing director and head of investment at Square Mile, said: “Simon brings significant industry and leadership experience as well as a proven ability to lead, manage and grow successful businesses and he provides strong, focused governance.”
